About this image

The Celestron CGEM II mount is set on a permanent concrete pier which preserves the polar and sky alignment.  The cover is a box made from aluminum-faced foam sheets inspired by the so-called "Motel o'Scope" by Dan's Pier Plates.  The exterior surface of the box was then covered with aircraft fabric and coated with epoxy resin, and painted.  Start-up is simple and quick, amounting to powering up the mount, dew heaters, and mini-computer running Windows 10 which is connected by Ethernet to local area network, such that all control can be conducted from inside the home.
