About this image

The Earth passed through the orbital plane of this comet at 01:52 UT so we are seeing the dust tail edge on. The thin spike of old, distant dust in the orbit plane stretches to the left of the coma. The newer, much closer, dust is to the right of the coma. A stretched negative view is here:
