About this image

Yet again I had to wait until after 10pm for the clouds to break cover. Even then the clear spells were short-lived. On this night the comet was near its closest pass of Capella. Auriga was overhead but the Full Moon wasn't far away. This evening (Feb 6) the comet will be just N of the Kids asterism.

I find an F3.3 reducer on my F10 SCT is always hard without the image looking like its been taken through a milk bottle.

Youve managed it though! Nice.

Hi Adam,

that 'scope is used for video observations of asteroidal occultations and astrometry, where the reducer gives me a wider field and fast f-ratio, several reference/comparison stars and a fast exposure cadence.

For other objects I can select a smaller ROI to use the central field (less vignetting). The comet images are a compromise, just for fun anyway.

Alex.
