About this image

This comet is now visible with the moon out of the way. This is the luminance of a colour image displayed as a log stretch. It shows the comet and its two tails, the broad dust tail and the narrow, faint, ion tail and a few emission and dark nebulae in Auriga. In particular the dark nebulae to the right of the star AB Aur in the upper left of the image. Comphot estimated a magnitude of 6.3 from the green channel of this image.
