Title

Z Ursae Majoris near current peak of luminosity

About this image

Variable star Z Ursae Majoris is currently approaching a peak in its luminosity of visual magnitude 7. This image comprises 9x30s (ISO 1600) taken on the 2nd April when the moon was in the sky and four days from full. I have rotated and cropped the image so that it is similar to the AAVSO chart X28625AEL and I have marked Z and two other stars labelled on the chart (84 - V magnitude 8.4 and 99 - V magnitude 9.9). This is a direct RGB image and so Z will appear much brighter than its V magnitude would imply because of its red colour.
