About this image

NGC 3166 - Round. It appears the brighter of the two galaxies in the field despite its published magnitude being slightly the lesser. The brightness increases sharply towards the middle. No elongation seen.  

NGC 3169 - Round with a gentle brightening towards the middle. No nucleus could be seen. Initially no elongation was seen but with longer study a faint outer layer that was elongated was seen.

Just to mention that your caption reads 'NGC 3199' which I think should be 'NGC 3169'.

I enjoy seeing the results of your unassisted visual observations. You must have a lot more patience than I do!
