Streaming out from the centre of M87 like a cosmic searchlight is one of nature's most amazing phenomena. You don't need long exposure time to capture it but a gentle processing to supress the glow of M87 and reveal the emerging jet.

Thanks for that Mazin! I have just dug out an image i had on file of what is otherwise a fairly bland image, and bingo - a very nice jet appears following some histogram tweaks. One for my file of interesting astro-objects!
