About this image
Finally an evening with above average seeing to work with. While I have had the Astrodon filter for some time now this is the first Venus apparition I have been able to use it since my western horizon requires Venus be at a good elevation to clear the treeline. This evening I went without the TeleVue 2.5x Barlow this time since general consensus is that it'll block some of the UV light. Coupled the UV with an IR block filter and did about 10 minutes of image capture to get the end result processed using PIPP, Autostakert, and PS. Happy with the outcome (especially using a color camera) showing what appear to be cusp caps and some cloud structure.
As Venus was sinking towards the trees I did not add in the Barlow for the IR images but simply swapped out the filter. The IR is featureless compared to the UV shot, but still worth the effort.
Hopefully there will be more of this nice seeing in store as it has been a long spell of either clouds or poor seeing!
