About this image

Mercury imaged in a short clear window with unexpectedly good seeing, Ant II. Only 16 videos of 10,000 frames each could be recorded before the clouds returned, but for most of the time the seeing was remarkably good and the image on the monitor very steady. The data was processed in PIPP, Autostakkert!3 and Registax 5, without any need for manual frame selection. Comparison of the final image with a blurred version of the WinJupos planetary map shows many of the same albedo features on both.

Superbly detailed Chris. You must be very pleased with that.

Thanks, Martin. As usual, just lucky to get the right conditions at the time I was imaging.
