About this image

M16 is quite low in the sky and just peeks above my obsy wall at culmination. But given the central part is so famous (HST's 'pillars of creation') it's worth a shot. There is a good reason the HST publicity group chose this region, as its dark dust clouds are beautifully sculpted. The main signal is in Hydrogen alpha so narrowband was used. I didn't manage to get RGB for the star colours (and any subtle nuances in the nebula) but the Ha image captures the essentials, I think.
