About this image

This planetary nebula in Aquila was discovered by William Herschel in August 1791. 

This exposure was curtailed by cloud, but shows a pale blue shell and bright central star set amongst innumerable stars.

Apparent magnitude 12.0. Distance c.4-6,000ly. Size c.1.3ly.

Bortle 7/8, persistent cloud.
