About this image

An item in this month's Sky at Night Magazine prompted this image. Cant quite understand the wizard reference but there is always something magical about seeing those colours come through.

This is an emission nebular. Energy radiating from hot young stars in this cluster is ionsing hydrogen (primarily), which is then emitting photons at characteristic wavelengths.

Visually the cluster is pretty, but even on 250mm SCT the nebular is only seen as a faint whisp.
