About this image

Integration of 7 subs with a very light high pass filter to reduce foreground star size.

The chip on my SX694 is not big enough to capture this whole galaxy. A focal reducer causes vignetting on my set up and life is too short to mess with mosaics.

But nevertheless. Wow wow. I never cease to be awestruck by M31. Speeding this way at circa 110km/second. It will collide with the Milky Way in a couple of billion years time. Although reading i have done reassures that this will be a fairly gentle affair with the two passing through one another. I wonder if there will be anyone around to witness it.

In our local group and our nearest large neighbour M31 is always a treat to observe imaging and visually too.

Last night is was a clear naked eye object through the dome door as well.
