About this image
This was a bright and colourful aurora (in the camera, still grey to my eyes) showed nice ray activity at times. I only observed it after midnight so no information about earlier in the night.

Hi there,
I was struck by the difference in colour between Callum and you. Many DSLRs have an automated white balance as default. I wondered if you use a different setting due to aurora being rather different to day time scenes.
Though, I suppose, the difference could come from differences in the leakages of the RGB Bayer matrices used in the cameras - I recall using a DSLR with an RGB Bayer matrix and taking pictures at 820nm, using only the light leakage in the pixel filters.
Grant, The Fuji XT camera that I use has the usual auto white balance but the colour temperature can be easily set in the menu too. I tend to set it around a colour temp of 3900 + or -, it helps a little bit with my bad light pollution. I really don't fully trust camera auto white balance at night. Fuji still very much like to pay homage to their old film stock. https://fujixweekly.com/2020/08/19/fujifilm-white-balance-shift-what-it-is-how-to-use-it/
