About this image

This is me standing above the clouds at 2100m. The clouds below us are illuminated by the thin crescent moon as the last traces of twilight disappear from the western sky around 20 minutes after Comet C/2023 P1 had set into the clouds. The streaks are all satellites, mainly Starlink. At the time the telescope on the right was imaging M101. This is from the Visitor Centre car park which is a a pretty stunning and very dark observing spot. In the other direction is a ridge with all of the observatory domes.

The sky at this altitude was fantastic and I was lucky enough to be able to look through a 30-inch Dobsonian that had been driven over from the Netherlands.

Nick, Is that the ubiquitous Redcat on the tripod?!

David - Yes well spotted. A RedCat51 and an ASI1600MM. It worked very well. Here is an example of an image from that combination:

This is a stack of 60x30s and the FoV is 4 x 3 deg.
