About this image

We 2-262

We 2-262 is a looped nebula that is near the supernova remnant CTB 1. It was discovered by Ronald Weinberger of the Max-Planck Institute by examining the Palomar Observatory Sky Survey plates, and was included by Weinberger in his 1977 paper listing 335 objects designated as possible, probable or true planetary nebulae. In 2008 David Frew concluded that it was merely an HII region.  Later observations showed it to be a bright rimmed globule.
Captured using my remote telescopes in Spain.
