About this image

Not to be confused with a planetary nebular. This "object" is actually a 10light year wide expanding hollow shell formed within gas and dust surrounding a super hot star at it's centre.

It is over 7000light years away (~2.1kpc).

Radiation emitted from the star is pushing matter outwards, whilst heating and forming an ionised wavefront - the bubble we can see.

Surrounding gas in the neighbourhood is also being heated and ionised and emitting radiation.

There a lot going on in there! Might spend some time with the image as this is straight off the camera from a few dozen 250sec subs
