About this image

I had not intended to image NGC6543 but after an evening fighting Windows 11 I decided to image a known commodity - having at last got the system running again. A week or two back the Minipc running my telescope died after a Windows update, taking the SSD with it - totally scromped FATs - and 70GB lost, after I found out my backups were failing. Oops.

Anyway. I first imaged a tiny area of this in about 1996 with an 8" _ homemade camera and was just pleased to detect the outer regions. I revisited in about 2006 using a 10" and a Starlight MX7 and got a lot more detail. This is better again and shows the improved kit makes all the difference...

Ideally, I would have had a couple of hours more, but its an acceptable result - just not a patch on those from Gurney, Tickner and Goodhew, which are really nice.
