V2494Cyg an FUor Star

About this image

Last night, while reading a paper on T Tauri, I came across a reference to V2494 Cyg as a recently appeared FUor star. It was mentioned as being 1-2 arc mins long, so I thought I would give it a try tonight, before fog descended.

I was struck by how similar it is to NGC2261 and Gyulbudaghian's nebula. I may keep an occasional eye out for whether it fades suddenly. Sadly, V2495 - another FUor - is just off the frame. Will bracket things better next time.

I did like the dark nebulae nearby - which showed quite well, despite the 54% illuminated Moon not far away.

Well, it could become Privett's nebula!
