About this image

An accidental excursion into spectroscopy! I have a prism on my windowsill and one afternoon the Sun was projected through it onto the glossy cellophane backing of a picture that I had propped up on a filing cabinet. Not exactly William Herschel discovering infra-red, but similarly accidental. If only Newton hadn't got there first .. . . . .

The book's title is appropriate but it has nothing to do with Astronomy.
