About this image

This attractive open cluster (Class II1p) in Lacerta was discovered in September 1893 by the British astronomer, Thomas Espin (1858-1934), using his own 17.25" reflector - or possibly by Johann Bode a century or so earlier. 

Apparent mag. 9.0. Distance c.10,400ly. Age c.631million yrs. (see  arxiv.org/abs/2106.07496)

Bortle 7/8. Moon waxing gibbous, 93%, 12 days. Murky sky!
