About this image

This galaxy cluster in Andromeda lies about 240million ly distant. The cluster members shown in this image (NGC 914 and NGC923 are not shown) are:

NGC 906 - spiral galaxy, mag. 13.0, discovered by Edouard Stephan in October 1878.

NGC 909 - elliptical galaxy, mag. 14.0, discovered by Edouard Stephan in October 1878.

NGC 910 - elliptical galaxy, mag. 12.0, discovered by William Herschel in October 1786.

NGC 911 - elliptical galaxy, mag. 13.0, discovered by Edouard Stephan in October 1878.

NGC 912 - lenticular galaxy, mag. 14.0, discovered by Edouard Stephan in November 1878.

NGC 913 - lenticular galaxy, mag. 15.0, discovered by Edouard Stephan in November 1878 (possibly not a member of this cluster).

A number of other galaxies can also be seen. Overall, a nice little collection.

Bortle 7/8, cloudy and damp.
