My last photo for 2023. Comet 12P is now entering the rich star field of Cygnus and will in a few days pass very close to the Crescent Nebula.

You can actually see a faint galaxy very close to the comet. For a Hi-Res photo click HERE.

That's a really nice widefield image showing how busy the background starfield is at the moment. I have just written up a note on this comet for the Feb Journal and if you are interested in contributing magnitude data to the Comet Section please let me know.

Thanks Nick. I am new to astrometry, have just used ASTAP which gave me magnitude 10.2. Do you have other suggestions for measuring comet mag.?
