Title

Mirach's Ghost Galaxy

About this image

This galaxy is located within 7' of the 2nd magnitude star Mirach in Andromeda, making it a difficult target to observe or photograph hence granting it the nickname "Mirach's Ghost". My exposure was a mere 10 frames 10s each to prevent the glare of Mirach overwhelming the galaxy. We often use Mirach (from the Arabic المراق ) to guide us visually to Andromeda galaxy.
