About this image

I decided to have a second try at the Deep Sky Section's 'Object of Interest' for January, using a longer exposure. However, despite an exposure of 112min. (1680 frames), compared with 40min. (600 frames) three days previously, the result seems rather disappointing. This is despite better sky conditions, although with interference this time from the Moon and possibly from frost.

I may have another try with the Mighty Midget (as I like to call the eQuinox) before the end of January if conditions allow. For now IC 2574 is on my list of 'difficult objects' or anspruchsvolle Objekte!

Bortle 7/8, Moon 1st qtr, 48%, 7 days. Cold - the 'scope ended the evening at around 21.00 covered in ice! (the outside temperature next morning was -7.0C.)
