About this image

As 12P is in outburst, I thought I would grab some images soon after dusk fell and before it got too low.

Starlink had other ideas. Yeah, several will probably median stack out but the rapidly changing sky gradient and passing thin cloud reduce its efficacy.

And we get this rubbish because uploading a photo/video of what you had for dinner to Twitter/Facebook/X/Tiktok while in the middle of the outback/jungle/ocean is so important.

Musk could make himself a bit more popular if he paid for a couple of new HSTs to help make up for the damage his profit making scheme has done to professional astronomy. It would be petty cash for him.

The symbolism - like looking at the Universe through the bars of a cage - is potent.

Thats outrageous.

You should send it to Sky at Night - ask them print that in their gallery instead of one of the photoshopped masterpeices taken with remote scopes that they normally print.

Yeah, its pretty vile, but I'm not sure the S&N would take anything from me.

They threw a strop when they worked out I wrote for both Astronomy Now and Sky at Night at one point. :)

Alan's comment did send me back to the opening credits of The Prisoner.

Send it to AN in that case ...
