About this image

NGC2276/Arp25 is a spiral galaxy, discovered by William Herschel in October 1786. Apparent mag. 11.4. Distance c.130-135million ly.

The galaxy appears to have been distorted by interaction with the lenticular galaxy, NGC2300, seen below left. This 11.2 mag. galaxy was discovered by Alphonse Borrelly in 1871.

IC455 can be seen to the left at the lower edge of the frame. This mag. 13.0 lenticular galaxy was discovered by William Denning in October 1890.

Several other unidentified galaxies are also visible.
