About this image

Another shot of Coddington's Nebula, IC 2574, Callum's deep sky object of the month. Callum does set some interesting subjects, thank you.

I've had a bit of a break from imaging due to time away and the lousy weather. This was something of a getting-back-to-it target, using my relatively new ASI 071 MC camera, which I confess I'm using in place of my QSI 683 most of the time these days. Each of the three-minute subs showed a faint smudge of the galaxy but 45 subs and some careful processing have produced a quite pleasing image, I think, which shows many of the features seen in longer exposures. More data would be better, however.

The other aspect of interest is that this was captured using my APM 107 refractor, a relatively modest scope. I should have another go using my RC10 to see the differences.
