About this image

Number 115 in the Sharpless catalogues of HII regions is a faint emission nebula near Deneb in Cygnus. The image is comprised of 6hrs 20mins of narrowband data, split roughly equally between Ha and OII filters. I rendered the Ha as red and the OIII as blue+green. The OII signal was much weaker in my data than the Ha,  but it helps tone-down the Ha signal, and is actually visible in small patches near the edges of the image.

I used StarExterminator in Pixinsight to separate the stars from the nebula for final processing. The stars were then diminished somewhat (using the morphology tool) and recombined with the nebula. I found this to be a compromise between a 'star-cluttered' image of a nebula, and a 'star-free' one which, personally, I find a little dissonant.

A bonus is the object Abell 71 - the small circular patch just below and left of centre. The Abell designation suggests a planetary nebula, but this status is apparently now under debate
