About this image

This unusual elliptical galaxy shows signs of disturbance caused by its proximity to 'nearby' galaxies. It was first observed by William Herschel in November 1801.

The heavily cropped image shows its irregular form, both in its nucleus and halo.

Distance c.13million ly. Apparent mag. 10.6.

Bortle 7/8. No Moon.
