Tadpoles (IC 410) and Flaming Star (IC 405) Nebulae

About this image
Flaming star nebula can be seen on the right side of this image. This is an emission and a reflection nebula located in the constellation of Auriga about 1,500 light years away. The central region is from light reflecting off of dust granules from the nearby star AE Auriga. Rippling dust and gas lanes give the Flaming Star Nebula its name.
Tadpole Nebula can be see on the left of this image. IC 410 was named the Tadpole Nebula because it hosts tadpole-shaped dark dust clouds that appear as if they were swimming toward the centre of the nebula.
This image is a merger of two imaging sessions separated by two years.
