The mag. 13.3 spiral galaxy NGC 3609 is shown in this COAST image, together with the mag. 14.1 spiral galaxy PGC 34546 (left). A number of other galaxies can be seen, including what looks to be an edge-on spiral at lower right.

NGC 3609 was discovered by Otto Struve in March 1869.

Distance c.365million ly. Diameter c.115-120,000 ly.
