Title

IC 2169 Reflection & Dark Nebulae

About this image

A sizable reflection nebula situated within the Constellation of Monoceros. Adorned with a captivating blue luminescence and featuring dark nebulae to the northwest, this target presents a stunning spectacle.

Reflection nebulae consist of interstellar dust clouds that reflect the light emitted by nearby stars. While the energy from these nearby stars isn't potent enough to ionize the gas within the nebula, resulting in an emission nebula, it does induce sufficient scattering to render the dust visible.
