About this image

This compact galaxy group consists of (at least) seven members. Numerous other galaxies are faintly seen in this COAST image. The group is the central part of the large galaxy cluster Abell 2085. It lies at a distance of about 465million ly.

A: NGC5944 mag. 13.5 spiral galaxy, discovered by Lewis Swift in April 1887.

B: NGC5941 mag. 13.9 lenticular galaxy, discovered by Lewis Swift in April 1887.

C: NGC5942 mag. 14.4 lenticular galaxy, discovered by Lewis Swift in April 1887.

D: PCG55316 mag. 15.5 elliptical galaxy.

E: PCG55325 mag. 16.5 lenticular galaxy.

F: PCG55313 mag. 16.5 lenticular galaxy.

G:PCG55307 mag. 17.0 spiral galaxy.
