About this image

These are actually part of a small group of galaxies called the NGC4631 group. Near, but not part of the Virgo cluster. Number of members seems to be disputed but these three are certianly in the group and as such as graviationally interacting.

NGC4631 is actually Caldwell 32 "The whale". An edge on spiral - with dust lanes visible an obscuring the strucuture behind which has some very active star forming regions.
