M3 in Canes Venatici

About this image

This has taken longer to put together than I thought- beware: drawing globular clusters takes a long time! Here is my rendition of M3, a lovely globular cluster in Canes Venatici. I know M13 is regarded as the finest globular cluster in the northern hemisphere but personally I've always thought M3 was better! I wanted to recreate how it looks in the eyepiece of a large telescope (in this case, my 12” Newtonian) in somewhat light polluted skies. Reasonably happy with the result, more it needs more work and practice of course!
