About this image

These interesting merging galaxies are the Deep Sky Section's May 'Object of Interest'.

In this COAST image, the edge-on VV 340A, the 'intervening' star, and the face on VV 340B can be seen more clearly (but not that much more clearly) than in my earlier Unistellar image. Certainly then a difficult object - Herausfordernd!

Apparent mag. 11.3. Distance c.450million ly.

Also dimly seen are galaxies:

PGC 1711650

PGC 1713635

PGC 1714195
