About this image

This mag. 10.6 spiral galaxy in Canes Venatici was discovered in January 1788 by William Herschel.

Distance c.120million ly. Diameter c.150,000ly.

Also visible at top left is NGC 5358, a mag. 13.6 lenticular galaxy. It was discovered by Edouard Stephan in June 1880.

Both galaxies are probably members of HCG 68.
