Title

Saturn with Titan Transit 2024/7/16

About this image

I first observed Saturn when it was 13° in altitude at 7:20 UT, at this time Titan was not observed. The seeing was not sufficient to make out Titan even though the transit was in progress. It was not until 8:10 UT that I began to see Titan in transit at 167x with averted vision. The seeing improved some and fortunately around 8:40, I was able to increase magnification to 204x. Saturn was 28° in altitude and improved seeing enabled a direct view of Titan.
