Thanks to Gary for the alert!  Dark in Australia at lunchtime in the UK so excellent timing to grab a quick image of the nova. The AAVSO chart gave a few reference magnitudes (shown on the image) but the nova is brighter than any of them now.

A nice field and the four stars in a short line should make the nova easy to find...
