Saturn with Titan Emerging from Transit

About this image

Got up at 2 a.m. to try to capture the final Titan transit event for this apparition and found I had very fine seeing (9/10) this morning, which is rare from the mid-Atlantic US. Started with a run in WL and then switched to the image shown here captured using R +IR filter to record the egress of the moon from the planet's disk. Between the different wavelength and the limb darkening, Titan appears white rather than its dark silhouette earlier in WL when over the SPR. The planet itself shows multiple bands and bright EZ. The banding striations in the S. hemisphere are much easier to see in this wavelength compared to the WL. As a bonus, Dione was in transit as well and you can just pick out her shadow just past the CM and at the southern flank of the SEB.
