About this image

This infrequently observed barred spiral galaxy was discovered in July 1885 by Lewis Swift. This 66min. exposure shows the nucleus and bar well and some traces of the spiral arms, although these do not appear prominent in other images either.

Apparent mag. 11.9. Distance c.111million ly.

Bortle 7/8, light cloud intermittently heavier.
