C/2023 A3 on the day of orbit plane crossing

About this image

Finally, a clear night up the mountain and on the critical night of October 14 when we crossed the plane of the comet's orbit. It was an amazing view with the naked eye despite the Moon with a tail visible for 12 deg or so. There is also an anti-tail pointing down to the horizon which shows up as a very thin line on my long focal length images. This is a single, unprocessed, 4s exposure taken using a 50mm lens so the FoV is around 41x27 deg.

I know that the UK weather has been very frustrating but my thanks to everyone who has tried to observe this comet under difficult circumstances,
