Very thoughtful of the captain of flight TOM4465 from La Palma to Gatwick to switch the cabin lights off for 5 minutes. A view from 36,000 ft over the North Atlantic.

Love it!

Back in April 1997 I was on the same journey, returning from La Palma after observing Hale-Bopp. Once airbourne it dawned on me this was a once in a life time event so  I asked if I could view the comet through the cockpit window. I couldn't believe it when they said yes.

T'was a pity I had packed up my cameras in the hold  ; - ((

But WHAT a view!

A great story Bill.  I’d given up taking pictures because cabin lights reflections, captain made an announcement he’d switch lights out, I did not ask, maybe someone else did.
