Another interesting finding from Melvyn Taylor's digital images archive. This composite image shows Dr Henry Soper's novel design for an observatory based on a large container with a cantilevered flip-over upper section. It housed a reflecting telescope with a CCD camera at its prime focus and would be remotely controlled.

As a ruse to deter unwelcome visitors, Henry planned to affix large signs "Warning! - High Voltage!".

(NB: There is no date and time information for the images, although July 2000 is a reasonable estimate.)
