About this image
Well I made the most of the first clear evening in weeks.
NGC891 is a popular target. This "edge_on" spiral sports a classy dust band and is a great example of its type. Radio observations result in this being classifed as non-barred spiral Type Sa
But looking away from this visual treat you can see lots of other galaxies too. I will upload a super imposed atlas in the next image, but the more you look the more you see.
I like NGC 906 best - bottom left. Its a tiny faint spiral, an SBab type. Mag 12.7V at a distance of 63Mpc (some 200million light years)
Needs more power and the 10"LX200 - but thats for another night!
The original image is colour, but i have extracted the Luminance channel here - it better displays the small fuzzies and there was a bit of background glow from the moon giving an unpleasent blue wash to the image.
