About this image

This is only part of what is a larger area of nebulosity in Auriga.

The image here is a slightly stretched RGB (no narrowband filters) showing the deep red which is emission nebular, along with the blue/white areas which is a reflection nebular. The bright star is AE Aurigae. Interestingly this is an irregular variable. So I assume this would also vary the intensity of the reflected light thus adding some dynamic element to the nebular.

Most of the nebular emission areas will be ionised hydrogen.

Another night I will image the same patch using Ha .
