About this image

This COAST image of this remote globular cluster does not show much detail - partly because it is one of the faintest (mag.14.26) and remotest of the Palomar globular clusters (c.313,000ly from the Galactic Centre), existing in the furthest region of the galactic halo. It was discovered by A G Wilson in 1955 using the Palomar Sky Survey plates.

Age c.10billion yrs.
