Geminid meteor between Gemini and Auriga

About this image

A Geminid meteor captured on the morning of 14 December 2024, between Gemini and Auriga. I didn't have much luck with the weather for the peak of the Geminids this year. The sky was totally clouded over for most of the night for me. I only got a clear spell in the early morning but I was able to observe for an hour before the sky got too bright with the approaching dawn. There was one advantage to this though, in that the nearly full Moon was setting at the time and so didn't interfere as much as it would have done earlier in the night. I did get to see a surprising number of Geminids.
