About this image

Visual maximum and minimum of chi Cygni 2023-2024.

2024 minimum bright at magnitude 13.0 (can be over a magnitude fainter), but the date for minimum from my data is poorly defined due to bad weather.  The BAAVSS database shows minimum occured around January 11, 2024 ~13.0, making the minimum flat for ~12d and occuring 401d after the 2022 minumum (catalogued period of 408d) from my data.

Maximum occured on July 7, 2024 at magnitude 4.4, slightly brighter than 2023 (4.7), making this the equal brightest maximum with 2022 since 2015. The decline rate from 2023 maximum to 2024 minumum is 231d.
